In some ways, the British royals spend summer just like the rest of us. They go to the beach, have picnics, and cool off with scoops of ice cream. However, other royal activities are a bit more specific to the monarchy. It seems that polo playing (yes, the one with horses) is a requirement of British male royals. The sport also happens to make for a variety of fun summer events. Over the years, the royals have spent a great deal of time at polo matches, whether they’re in the stands or participating in the game itself. Everyone from Queen Elizabeth to Prince George has been spotted cheering on the athletes. The royals also don’t mind a bit of competition, with Princes William and Harry occasionally playing against one another.
Here, we’ve compiled some of our favorite photos of royals playing polo and attending the matches (and all the great fashion that comes along with these events). Read on for a survey of royal polo.
