Bally Sports Midwest to Televise 151 Games; 13 Games to be Nationally Televised on ESPN/FOX/FS1

Mike Shannon & John Rooney Return for 16th Season Together on KMOX & Cardinals Radio Network

Polo Ascencio & Bengie Molina Back to Call All Home Games for Club’s Spanish Radio Broadcasts

Every 2021 regular season game will be televised locally or nationally as well as broadcast on KMOX and the Cardinals Radio Network.  Additionally, all 81 home games will feature live Spanish radio broadcasts.

Busch Stadium Policies

Policies and protocols that have been in place since the start of the season will remain to ensure the health and safety of fans, employees, and players in 2021, including:

  • Socially-distanced seating: Guests will be seated in pods of four or less with a minimum distance of three feet between seating pods in all directions.
  • Masks required: Masks are required at all times in all areas of the stadium, including the seating bowl, unless guests are actively eating and drinking.
  • Mobile-only ticketing: All game tickets will be delivered via the MLB Ballpark app, ensuring a touchless entry into the ballpark.
  • Cashless transactions: Concession stands, kiosks and other retail transactions made in the stadium are cashless and only offer credit and debit payment optionsDebit cards are available for purchase using cash with no service fees at a limited number of locations inside the stadium.
  • Bags not permitted: To reduce contamination and ensure touchless entry, bags are not permitted to be brought in to Busch Stadium, except for medical bags, diaper bags with a child or clutches/wristlets not exceeding 6″ x 8″.  All exceptions must enter via the designated Inspection Lane at each gate.
  • Designated entry gates: Guests will be directed to enter and exit the stadium through one of six designated entry gates to expedite the process and limit crowding at any one entrance.  A designated entry gate will be noted on each ticket.  Guests are not permitted to exit and re-enter the stadium.

The St. Louis Cardinals have announced several additions to its 2021 promotional schedule with 24 giveaways for ticketed-fans at cardinals.com/promotions.

The updated 2021 promotional schedule features many fan-favorite giveaways for guests of all ages including four bobbleheads and six wearable items, as well as newly-designed, high demand items from previous seasons such as a “YADI” Cardinals Tumbler (June 25 & 26), a Cardinals Belt (August 6), and a Cardinals Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear (August 22).

Fans will be able to purchase tickets to promotional games when single-game tickets go on sale tomorrow, May 27, at 12 PM CT.

Television

In its 28th season with the team, and 11th as the exclusive local TV home of the Cardinals, Bally Sports Midwest (rebranding from FOX Sports Midwest) is scheduled to carry 151 regular season games this season.  Bally Sports Midwest will continue to produce Cardinals Live pre- and postgame shows for every regular season telecast, live from the network’s studio in Ballpark Village.  Play-by-play announcer Dan McLaughlin (24th season) and analysts Jim Edmonds, Ricky Horton, Brad Thompson and Rick Ankiel will call game action.  Jim Hayes, Scott Warmann and Erica Weston will serve as reporters and hosts for Cardinals Live, while former Cardinals pitcher Al Hrabosky serves as pre- and postgame studio analyst.  The network will also continue to air Cardinals Insider, the club-produced weekly television show, beginning on Sunday, April 4 and the weekly Cardinals Kids Show beginning Saturday, April 3.

Bally Sports Midwest’s regular season coverage starts Opening Day, April 1, at 2 PM CT with a one-hour Cardinals Live pregame.  Bally Sports Midwest will also produce an expanded Cardinals Live pregame before the home opener on April 8; live coverage that day will begin at 1:30 PM CT.

Cardinals programming airing on Bally Sports Midwest will stream live on the all-new Bally Sports app and on BallySports.com for consumers who authenticate through their pay-TV service.  The app and web site will launch in coordination with the network rebrand on March 31. The FOX Sports GO app will update to the new Bally Sports app upon the rebrand.

Currently, nine regular season games will be carried exclusively on either ESPN, FOX (aired locally on KTVI) or FS1 as part of Major League Baseball’s national television packages, with another four ESPN games scheduled to co-exist with the local Bally Sports Midwest telecast.  Two games have not been scheduled, but will be televised nationally or carried locally on Bally Sports Midwest.  The television schedule is subject to change.

Radio

In addition to televised game coverage, KMOX 1120 AM, the team’s flagship radio station, and most stations on the Cardinals Radio Network, will carry every regular season game.  New for 2021, Cardinals games will be simulcast locally on 98.7 FM.

Broadcasters Mike Shannon (50th and final season) and John Rooney (16th season) will again share the Cardinals radio calls at home.  Mike will call approximately 50 home games, while Ricky Horton will continue to join John Rooney behind the microphone for all Cardinals road games and the remaining home games.  Mike Claiborne returns to assist with broadcasts while Tom Ackerman, Kevin Wheeler and Joe Pott will serve as pre- and postgame hosts on KMOX.  This year marks KMOX’s 11th consecutive season as the flagship station and 64th year overall.  The Cardinals Radio Network consists of 145 radio stations in eight states and is the largest radio network in MLB.

Spanish Radio

The Cardinals, in cooperation with WIJR 880 AM La Tremenda, will produce 81 Spanish-language radio broadcasts for all St. Louis home games during the 2021 season.

Play-by-play announcer Polo Ascencio and color analyst Bengie Molina will return for their sixth season to provide Hispanic and Latino fans with a way to follow the Cardinals in their native language.  All 81 broadcasts will air locally on WIJR 880 AM and be streamed via cardinals.com and the MLB app.

The Cardinals are back at Busch Stadium for a brief three-game homestand vs. the Miami Marlins (June 14-16).  Today marks the first day of no capacity restrictions at Busch Stadium.  Fans can view a full list of homestand highlights at cardinals.com/homestand.

BUSCH STADIUM BOX OFFICE – NEW FOR 2021

The Busch Stadium Box Office is open on game days from 10 AM until one and a half hours after the scheduled game time.  On non-game days, the Box Office is open Monday–Friday from 10 AM–5 PM.  During limited capacity games, First Pitch and Military tickets will not be offered.  Transactions at the Box Office will be cashless.  Fans can inquire about tickets by calling 314-345-9000. 

RE-ENTRY & SMOKING GATE – NEW FOR 2021

In order to provide the safest environment for all guests and staff, guests will not be permitted to exit and re-enter the facility during games.  A designated smoking area is set up at Gate 1 to allow guests access in and out of the stadium if they wish to smoke. The designated smoking area is open from gate opening until the end of the 7th inning.

The second phase will decide the eight starting position players in each League (and the DH for the AL) for the 2021 All-Star Game.  Fans voting during the second phase will be limited to one ballot submission per email address during any 24-hour period.  The second phase of voting will begin on June 28 at 11:00 AM CT and end on July 1 at 1:00 PM CT.

Phase one ballot standings updates will be announced on June 14 and June 21, with the phase one final results announced on June 27.  Phase two standings updates will be announced daily from June 29-July 1, with All-Star Game starters announced on July 1 during primetime.  Complete 2021 All-Star Game rosters, including reserves and pitchers, will be announced no later than July 5.
